Lakes to Fish
Here is a list of my favorite lakes to do guided fishing trips in San Diego with some details about each one. We can go wherever you decide, or you can leave the choice up to me and I’ll take us to whichever lake is biting best during any given season.
San Vicente
12387 Moreno Ave. Lakeside, CA 92040 Thursday, Friday, Saturday Sunday and Monday
This is one of our most beautiful, majestic lakes we have near San Diego. Clear water and gorgeous wildlife surrounds the lake. Lots of brush and structure here to target. This is a fun lake for finesse fishing. San Vicente is a deep, steep-sided impounding reservoir on San Vicente Creek, approximately 25 miles northeast of San Diego. It currently has a depth of 306 feet
El Capitan
16850 El Monte Road Lakeside, CA 92040 Open Friday through Tuesday 1/2 hour before sunrise to sunset
Cap is one of my favorite lakes to target bass And crappie. The amount of structure in this lake offers a variation in approaches and tech. From flipping shallow to open water Shad eaters. Also holds some quality fish! El Capitan Reservoir was created in 1935 with the completion of El Capitan Dam. That same year, the reservoir was connected to the City's water system via El Capitan Pipeline. Located approximately 30 miles northeast of downtown San Diego
Lake Murray
5540 Kiowa Drive La Mesa, CA 91942 Open daily - sunrise to sunset
This is my go to lake when I want to catch quality fish. I love to flip deep into the tule here and chase the big wolf packs off shore. This lake can offer some really good bites on finesse techs as well. A small lake, with some Huge Bass! Murray Reservoir is located in the eastern part of the City, north of Interstate 8 and Lake Murray Boulevard, on the border with the City of La Mesa. When full, the reservoir has 171.1 surface acres, a maximum water depth of 95 feet and 3.2 shoreline miles.
Otay Lakes
1500 Wueste Road Chula Vista, CA 91915 Open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday sunrise to sunset
Otay is my home lake and one I’ve fished the most since a kid. Reeds cover the banks and the bass and bluegill fishing can be all time. The Coppernose bluegills here are huge and super fun for all ages. When full, Lower Otay Reservoir has 1,100 surface acres, a maximum water depth of 137.5 feet, and 25 shoreline miles
Lake Miramar
10710 Scripps Lake Drive San Diego, CA 92131 Open daily - sunrise to sunset
MiraMar is a Great Lake to learn your finesse tech as this water is very clear all year. A Great Lake for lite line and small baits. Although during winter and spring the potential for a Trophy is there with trout stocks getting those big girls going. When full, the reservoir has 162 surface acres, a maximum water depth of 114 feet and four shoreline miles
Lake Skinner
37701 Warren Rd, Winchester, CA 92596 Open Daily Sunrise to Sunset
Lake Skinner offers some great bass fishing with Largemouth and Stripers. This lake puts out some quality fish and every cast offers potential for a PB. A tule covered lake with a great flip bite spring thru fall. Winter time and early spring can be the best time to catch a trophy on a big Swimbait. Nestled in the rolling hills of Winchester, CA, beautiful Lake Skinner Recreation Area offers visitors expansive natural vistas
